Summary

Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera reunite to continue the story of Arthur and Ben, the boys readers first fell for in the New York Times bestselling rom-com What If It’s Us

Ben survived freshman year of college, but he’s feeling more stuck than ever。 His classes are a slog, his part-time job working with his father is even worse, and his best friend Dylan’s been acting weird for weeks。 Ben’s only real bright spot is his writing partner Mario, who’s been giving him a lot of Spanish lessons and even more kisses。 Mario’s big Hollywood dreams make Ben start to dream bigger—and the choices he makes now could be the key to reshaping his future。 So why can’t he stop thinking about a certain boy from his past?

Arthur is back in New York City for the first time in two years, ready to take the theater world by a storm as the world’s best 。 。 。 intern to the assistant of an off-off-Broadway director。 Of course, it sucks to be spending the summer apart from his sweet, reliable boyfriend, Mikey, but he knows their relationship is strong enough to weather the distance。 Which is why it’s no big deal when his ex-boyfriend Ben stumbles back into the picture。 And it’s definitely fine that Ben’s blissfully happy with some mystery boy。 First loves are special, but it’s way too late for what-ifs。 Right?

Even as the boys try to shake off the past, they keep running into each other in the present。 Is this the universe trying to tell them there’s a do-over in their future?

Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review I have to start this by saying I liked this SO much more than What If It's Us。 I don't know if it's because the characters were older and more mature this time around, but they were so much more enjoyable to read。 I liked them individually, but I still wasn't convinced that they fit together romantically until almost the end of this book。 In this story, both Ben and Arthur have found partners that fit them s Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review I have to start this by saying I liked this SO much more than What If It's Us。 I don't know if it's because the characters were older and more mature this time around, but they were so much more enjoyable to read。 I liked them individually, but I still wasn't convinced that they fit together romantically until almost the end of this book。 In this story, both Ben and Arthur have found partners that fit them so well, and I was almost rooting for these other relationships instead of the one between our actual love interests。 Everything pulling our main characters back to each other felt forced to me, and I wasn't buying it。 It seemed like Ben and Arthur were both more in love with the memories they had together than with who they both were now。This book also could have ended in three separate spots before it actually did。 One chapter towards the end of the book ended so nicely, I was almost mad when I found out there was another chapter after it。 The epilogue was also two separate sections, one taking place four years in the future and one two years after that。 It really seemed to me that the authors didn't want to write any more books in this series, so they made sure to answer answer EVERY。 SINGLE。 QUESTION。 This left no room for interpretation, which I was a little disappointed by, but at least you now know EXACTLY what happened to these characters after the end of the main story。 I personally feel like this needed to be broken into a book and a novella in order to cover everything without seeming excessive or draggy, but instead, everything was stuffed in here。This was a book where the side characters stole my heart while the main characters didn't, which still made this an enjoyable read overall。 I love the relationship between Dylan and Samantha, and I liked Ethan's story in this too。 The relationship between Ben and his parents is adorable and real, and I appreciate how supportive they are of him no matter how they feel about the choices he's making。 If you've read What If It's Us I definitely recommend this one even if you didn't plan on continuing the series。 This was such a better reading experience, and I'm so glad I gave this series another shot。 。。。more

This was the perfect follow-up to What If It's Us? Adam and Becky have completely knocked this out of the park; Here's to Us isn't just a sequel, but honestly? All of the characters we love are back and Mario and Mikey are welcome additions。 It picks up two years after the end of the first book with Ben and Arthur going to college in different states and having not spoken for months。 They both have their respective boyfriends/maybe boyfriends who they are perfectly happy with。 The only problem? Neither boy has seemed to completely have gotten over the other。 When Arthur gets his dream theater internship he leaves his summer plans with his boyfriend Mikey for a return to New York City for the first time since his break up with Ben。 And Ben, of course, is still there。 Here’s To Us follows Ben, Arthur, and their close-knit group of friends through the ups and downs of relationship from romantic to platonic and through the crazy and unpredictableness of young adult life。 Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera’s writing styles blend seamlessly。 This story is beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking, and mending all at once。 Love isn’t always easy。 In fact, it usually isn’t。 It’s messy and scary and, above all, infuriating。 This book captures it all。 I could not have asked for a better sequel or better book to end my year with。Warnings: Language and mentions of sex (it’s pretty tame tho… mostly Dylan (IYKYK)) 。。。more

Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-copy。 ‘Here’s To Us’ is a great follow up to ‘What If It’s Us’。 Both Ben and Arthur have been charming and engaging characters in the previous book, and now, two years older, they are even more so。 Both more mature and yet not completely, still chasing their dreams and trying to figure what to do。 Their lives are equally exciting, messy and complicated, and it’s nice to see them again。While I have enjoyed following Ben and Arthur’s journey here, Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-copy。 ‘Here’s To Us’ is a great follow up to ‘What If It’s Us’。 Both Ben and Arthur have been charming and engaging characters in the previous book, and now, two years older, they are even more so。 Both more mature and yet not completely, still chasing their dreams and trying to figure what to do。 Their lives are equally exciting, messy and complicated, and it’s nice to see them again。While I have enjoyed following Ben and Arthur’s journey here, they both spend the majority of the book in different relationships (or almost relationships), and some of their actions are a little questionable。 But generally, ‘Here’s To Us’ has been a good second-chance romance book。 。。。more

So they try to be friends。 But the universe seems to be insistent upon more。 Add in all of the friends and peripheral characters from book one who have their own new challenges and surprises and you get one heck of a fantastic ride! Do they get back together? You’ll have to read to find out! 。。。more

3。5 stars I LOVED _What If It's Us_, so like all fans of that novel, I was thrilled to see a sequel arrive。 And the sequel is。。。good。 Ben and Arthur are circling back into each other's orbits after a couple of years, and this puts them - for me - into New Adult, not Young Adult, territory。 While their joint perspectives help readers catch up easily on the nuances of their current circumstances, love lives, and changes, there is also SO MUCH to get through here。 Often, I wondered if the respectiv 3。5 stars I LOVED _What If It's Us_, so like all fans of that novel, I was thrilled to see a sequel arrive。 And the sequel is。。。good。 Ben and Arthur are circling back into each other's orbits after a couple of years, and this puts them - for me - into New Adult, not Young Adult, territory。 While their joint perspectives help readers catch up easily on the nuances of their current circumstances, love lives, and changes, there is also SO MUCH to get through here。 Often, I wondered if the respective renown of these authors has resulted in too much allowance and/or too few edits from their administrative teams。 This book is long, and it unfortunately feels that way。 For me, the impact would be greater - and the read much more satisfying - if 100-150 pages disappeared from the final draft。 Going into the ending, because of the long and winding road, this was sitting at a solid "3" for me: disappointing after the clear 5-star first installment。 But the ending is strong。 Fans of these two will get answers and feel quite satisfied by the relatively extensive follow-up/insight into Ben's and Arthur's outcomes。 Overall, I am certain I would have gotten a lot out of more meticulous plotting edits, but I do recommend this read to fans of the first book。 *Special thanks to NetGalley and Quill Tree Books for this arc, which I received in exchange for an honest review。 The opinions expressed here are my own。 。。。more

Here’s To Us is the long awaited (okay, it’s only been a couple of years, but it feels like forever) sequel to What If It’s Us。 If you have read What If It’s Us, then you will know that if you wanted a happily ever after ending it desperately needed a sequel。 And finally, finally, we have been gifted with a glorious, funny, delightful sequel。 And that happily ever after? Oh yeah, there’s definitely a few of them this time around。 A couple weddings, a few proposals, best friends forever - this bo Here’s To Us is the long awaited (okay, it’s only been a couple of years, but it feels like forever) sequel to What If It’s Us。 If you have read What If It’s Us, then you will know that if you wanted a happily ever after ending it desperately needed a sequel。 And finally, finally, we have been gifted with a glorious, funny, delightful sequel。 And that happily ever after? Oh yeah, there’s definitely a few of them this time around。 A couple weddings, a few proposals, best friends forever - this book just seeps romance, love and heartwarming moments。 Ben and Arthur fell apart, separated by distance and different lives。 They haven’t spoken for months。 They both have boyfriends (or sort-of boyfriends)。 Ben is at college and working with his father。 He’s still writing his epic fantasy novel but the highlight of his days are the guy he met in his writing class。 Arthur has just landed the internship of his dreams with one of his favourite theatre directors。 It means leaving behind his boyfriend, but they are strong enough to cope with the distance, and he’s back in New York for the first time in years。 Suddenly, Ben and Arthur keep bumping into each other or find themselves in every spot that has memories of their romance。 It’s nice (sort-of, or maybe just complicated?) to relive their first love, but it’s over and they can manage to be friends now。 Right? If their first romance was all about do-overs, this is the do-over do-over。 Actually, for the majority of this book, Ben and Arthur are dating other guys, so just be prepared for that when you start reading。 I think it’s pretty clear to everyone who exactly they should be dating but I was surprised that I didn’t hate their other relationships and other boyfriends。 They are actually pretty amazing。 Which of course makes this a bit of a love square? It’s messy and complicated and yes, some people get hurt, but that’s life。 It’s real and sweet and powerful。 Here’s To Us does a great job of walking the fine line between young adult fiction, new adult fiction and adult fiction。 In some ways, it’s it a bit of them all。 We started the journey with Ben and Arthur when they were teens and What If It’s Us is definitely YA fiction。 Here’s To Us has the same feel about the writing but Ben and Arthur are now adults, Ben’s at university, working and Arthur has just landed a dream internship。 This book is about continuing to grow up but also about adulting - relationships, working, and trying to figure out what they want from their lives。 By the end, I felt like I was reading an adult fiction novel。 All I’m going to say is, thank you for the epilogue(s)!! This sequel is not going to disappoint。 I mean, you could offer a money-back, 100% satisfaction guarantee because fans of Ben and Arthur are going to love this。 The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes。 All opinions are my own。Find more reviews, reading age guides, content advisory, and recommendations on my blog Madison's Library 。。。more

He was just pure perfection, just as he was before。。 Arthur and Ben may be our main characters, but Dylan STEALS THE SHOW。 His characters is so funny。 Anytime he was on the page, I knew I was in for a laugh! I enjoyed the side plot surrounding Dylan we get in Here’s To Us。 He is my absolute favorite and (I said this before and I will say it again) he deserves his own book。 。。。more

I sometimes take issue with young adult LGBT rom-com books。 Although the story is kind of cute, the male characters are described as shallow, and with frivolous dilemmas that no 17,18,19, and 20 year old mentally healthy young adult would fret over。 Unlike Dante and Aristotle`s books, which have some depth, here`s to us is just a gay Ctrl+C Ctrl+V of all the old straight rom-com available in the literature and chick-flicks。 I sometimes take issue with young adult LGBT rom-com books。 Although the story is kind of cute, the male characters are described as shallow, and with frivolous dilemmas that no 17,18,19, and 20 year old mentally healthy young adult would fret over。 Unlike Dante and Aristotle`s books, which have some depth, here`s to us is just a gay Ctrl+C Ctrl+V of all the old straight rom-com available in the literature and chick-flicks。 。。。more

4。5-5 starsThis book was an emotional, nerve-wracking ride。 I can't say too much else without spoilers, but I loved being back with this crazy crew。 I received an eARC from Edelweiss。 4。5-5 starsThis book was an emotional, nerve-wracking ride。 I can't say too much else without spoilers, but I loved being back with this crazy crew。 I received an eARC from Edelweiss。 。。。more
